We are approaching very important dates in our calendars, such as Christmas, and it is common to make purchases during these days. Do you know the labeling of these products?<\/strong> In Boronatic<\/strong>, we show you how these labels should be. <\/p>\n

In order to be marketed within the European Union, toys must be marked with“CE<\/strong>” (Conformit\u00e9 Europ\u00e9ene, i.e. European Conformity), which means that the toy complies with the provisions of the Directive and, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, guarantees all legal requirements for the safety of the child.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Following this marking, safety warnings constitute information of vital importance for safe play. The legislation emphasizes that no warnings should be given for risks that do not exist, so as not to mislead users<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The labels on toys, as well as the instructions accompanying them, should alert the consumer to the risks that their use may entail and how to avoid them. The minimum age of the users of toys and the need for them to be used only in the presence of an adult should be specified whenever necessary. <\/p>\n

What should a toy label have?<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Product name<\/strong> and brand name.<\/li>\n
  • Name or company name of the manufacturer<\/strong> or importer, and its address. <\/li>\n
  • Lot<\/strong>, serial or model number<\/strong> that allows its identification. <\/li>\n
  • Recommended age<\/strong> for use. <\/li>\n
  • Instructions<\/strong> for use and indication of the need to keep the labeling data.<\/li>\n
  • Electrically operated toys must specify the maximum power, supply voltage required and energy consumption.<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In addition, some toys must carry the following warnings: <\/p>\n

    • Toys that are too small in size or contain small parts should be marked “Not suitable for children under three years or 36 months”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Toys distributed or mixed with food should carry the warning: “Contains a toy. Adult supervision is recommended”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Slides, swings, trapezes, etc. must include the warning: “For domestic use only”<\/strong> and inform of the need for periodic inspections. <\/li>\n
    • Chemical toys, such as chemistry sets, are required to include the following warning: “Not suitable for children under X years of age. Use under adult supervision”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • When the toy reproduces protective equipment, it must be marked:“This toy does not offer protection”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Toys intended to be hung by cords over a crib or playpen should carry the warning: “To avoid possible injury from strangulation, this toy should be removed when the child begins to try to pull himself up on his hands and knees”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Skates and bicycles shall be accompanied by the inscription: “Protective equipment should be used. Do not use in traffic areas”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Nautical toys should carry the warning: “Use only in water where the child can stand and under adult supervision”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Kites and flying toys with a string longer than two meters must contain the warning: “Do not use near power lines or during a storm”.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • The olfactory board games will carry the legend: “Contains fragrances that may cause allergies”.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
